About MOSCOT

Founded by Hyman Moscot, a Belarusian-Jewish immigrant who arrived via Ellis Island in 1899 and began selling ready-made eyeglasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street; the family opened its first retail shop in 1915. Now five generations in, still family-owned. Best known for the Lemtosh, its signature acetate-and-metal frame.
